Callay! <\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m only capable of such exuberant <a href=\"http:\/\/lewiscarrollsociety.org.uk\/\"><strong>Carrollian<\/strong><\/a> language after having had a couple cups of coffee.<\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;ve got a post over at <em><a href=\"http:\/\/guyslitwire.blogspot.com\/\"><strong>Guys Lit Wire<\/strong><\/a><\/em> today. It&#8217;s all about <a href=\"http:\/\/content.scholastic.com\/browse\/contributor.jsp?id=3258\"><strong>Christopher Myers&#8217;<\/strong><\/a> reimagining of Lewis Carroll&#8217;s <em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Jabberwocky-Lewis-Carroll\/dp\/1423103726\/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&#038;s=books&#038;qid=1214270029&#038;sr=8-2\"><strong>Jabberwocky<\/strong><\/a><\/em> from last year. Yes, I&#8217;m a bit slow in getting to this title, but better late than never. Here&#8217;s how the post starts out: <\/p>\n<p><center>* * *<\/center><\/p>\n<p><font color=\"000066\"><em>Leave it to artist Christopher Myers to remind us that not all children\u2019s books are merely the \u201cproducts of wild imaginations and unfettered flights of fancy,\u201d as they are often made out to be. \u201c{M}y books are, more often than not, products of painstaking research,\u201d he writes in the closing author\u2019s note of <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Jabberwocky-Lewis-Carroll\/dp\/1423103726\/ref=pd_bbs_sr_2?ie=UTF8&#038;s=books&#038;qid=1214270029&#038;sr=8-2\"><strong>Jabberwocky<\/strong><\/a><em>, Myers\u2019 re-imagining of the classic nonsense verse by <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Lewis_Carroll\"><strong>Lewis Carroll<\/strong><\/a>, published last year by Jump at the Sun\/Hyperion. <\/p>\n<p>And leave it to Myers to present us with another example of a picture book that appeals to teens. Myers takes this legendary poem&#8212;written over one hundred and thirty years ago and published in <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Through_the_Looking-Glass\"><strong><\/em>Through the Looking Glass, and What Alice Found There<em><\/strong><\/a> by Carroll, the pen name for the Reverend Charles Dodgson&#8212;and sets it on the basketball court in a contemporary, inner-city setting: \u201cThe slithy toves\u201d who \u201cdid gyre and gimble in the wabe\u201d are jump-ropers, looking over their shoulder to see the Jabberwock\u2019s entrance onto the basketball court.
