As many of you know, the third (I think it is) Annual Kidlitosphere Conference is coming up on October 17th. Here’s all the info you need. Eisha and I can’t be there, but MotherReader, who is working hard to organize this year’s conference, asked us to take a brief trip down memory lane and reflect on the first conference we went to, which happened to be the first-ever one in Chicago in 2007.

Why did you decide to attend the KidLitosphere Conference?

Jules: For the opportunity to meet face-to-face many bloggers I respect and admire.

Eisha: Yeah, me too. It was kind of like the reason I got into blogging in the first place – a chance to hang out and talk with people who are passionate about the same things I am.

Who was most like their blog? Who was least like their blog?

Jules: Oh, I’d say…Hmm…Most like their blog? Robin Brande, gracious host! And Mark and Andrea = really outgoing and enthusiastic. There wasn’t one person there at the conference who wasn’t extra-friendly.

Eisha: Adrienne, also, is exactly like you’d expect – very deadpan and hilarious.

What surprised you at the conference?

Jules: Sara Lewis Holmes’ voice wasn’t at all like I imagined it would be. Also, that a lot of bloggers treat blogging like it’s a part-time job. You can also tell that from their blogs, but in person…wow, they’re serious about what they do.

Eisha: Can I admit something sort of horrible? It was my first experience with meeting people I had primarily known online, and I had a sort of fear that the people in person wouldn’t actually be anything like their online personalities. I was even afraid that there would be a bunch of, like, you know… totally stereotypical anti-social computer geek types who maybe couldn’t actually hold a proper conversation in real life (like this girl). It was totally unfounded. I had a blast.

What will you always remember about the last conference?

Jules: A late-night trip for coffee with several bloggers, including Tricia, Adrienne, Sara, Greg, and Eisha. I’m sure I’m forgetting someone.

Eisha: Yeah, that was fun. And also lunch with many of those people, plus Mark and Andrea, too. I dunno… the whole day was just pretty awesome.
