This would be the moment in time in which I wished that a) I lived in New York, at least for the length of time during which this auction takes place and b) I was filthy rich. <a href=\"http:\/\/ny.bloomsburyauctions.com\/auction\/NY040\"><strong>Here&#8217;s<\/strong><\/a> more information. (There are also two pencil sketches and one more watercolor study of the balloon. See <a href=\"http:\/\/ny.bloomsburyauctions.com\/detail\/NY040\/323.0\"><strong>here<\/strong><\/a>. Swoon.)<\/p>\n<p>This preliminary jacket design below for <a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/William_Steig\"><strong>William Steig&#8217;s<\/strong><\/a> <em><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Shrek!\"><strong>Shrek!<\/strong><\/a><\/em> will also be auctioned off, along with lots of other great stuff, so <a href=\"http:\/\/ny.bloomsburyauctions.com\/auction\/NY040\"><strong>go see<\/strong><\/a>. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/jules\/Steig1.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p>Okay, as for my List &#8216;O&#8217; Random Things&#8230;<\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<ol>\n<li>You&#8217;ve seen <a href=\"http:\/\/peteredmundlucy7.blogspot.com\/2009\/11\/asia-in-heart-world-on-mind.html\"><strong>Tarie&#8217;s new blog<\/strong><\/a>, right? Wonderful.<\/li>\n<li>The <a href=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/sevenimpossiblethings\/?p=1235\"><strong>Poetry Seven<\/strong><\/a> are <a href=\"http:\/\/liz-scanlon.livejournal.com\/135310.html\"><strong>at it again<\/strong><\/a>. This time with villanelles. Good stuff.<\/li>\n<li>Author\/illustrator <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ruzzier.com\/\"><strong>Sergio Ruzzier<\/strong><\/a> has a new blog, <a href=\"http:\/\/sergioruzzier.blogspot.com\/\"><em><strong>Hey, Rabbit!<\/strong><\/em><\/a> I&#8217;m very glad he makes picture books, but then <a href=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/sevenimpossiblethings\/?p=1468\"><strong>I&#8217;ve said that before<\/strong><\/a>.<\/li>\n<li>Have you all seen <a href=\"http:\/\/www.litdrift.com\/\"><em><strong>Lit Drift<\/strong><\/em><\/a> yet? It&#8217;s a new blog, resource, and community for young adults dedicated to the art and craft of fiction in the twenty-first century. Even more good stuff.<\/li>\n<li>Did you all see <a href=\"http:\/\/www.justonemorebook.com\/2009\/11\/18\/get-well-soon-andrea\/\"><strong>this<\/strong><\/a> over at <em>Just One More Book<\/em>? (I&#8217;m a bit late in getting to it.) That right there is thoughtful is what it is, and Andrea is a very deserving recipient of such thoughtfulness, too. There&#8217;s also <a href=\"http:\/\/www.justonemorebook.com\/2009\/11\/15\/the-warrior-theme\/\"><strong>this<\/strong><\/a>, which I contributed to. (You&#8217;d think I would have used my full name, but I just said &#8220;Jules,&#8221; so it&#8217;s hard to hear me.) Anyway, I continue to wish Andrea the very best and lots of lots of strength in fighting this cancer.<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.astorybeforebed.com\/\"><strong><em>A Story Before Bed<\/em><\/strong><\/a> is a new service for parents away on business, distant grandparents, military parents stationed far from home, or anyone separated from an important child in their life, and it was launched by <a href=\"http:\/\/www.jacksonfish.com\/\"><strong>Jackson Fish Market<\/strong><\/a>, a small Seattle software startup. Military parents can sign up for their special mailing list, offering free and discounted recordings. Neat, huh?<\/li>\n<li><a href=\"http:\/\/www.artinallofus.org\/\"><strong>Art in All of Us<\/strong><\/a> promotes tolerance and cultural exchange by helping children from around the world speak to each other through art.
