Knoxville does these festivals up right, and they&#8217;re always good fun. <\/p>\n<p>This year (<strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/sevenimpossiblethings\/?p=2355\">as I did last year<\/a><\/strong>) I moderated a picture book panel. 2013&#8217;s visitors included&#8212;as pictured left to right above&#8212;author <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/deborahdiesen.com\/\">Deborah Diesen<\/a><\/strong>, author\/illustrator <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/bobshea.com\/\">Bob Shea<\/a><\/strong>, author\/illustrator <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.studiojjk.com\/\">Jarrett J. Krosoczka<\/a><\/strong> (had never met him in person before, but I feel like he&#8217;s an old friend, so that was particularly fun), author <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.sudipta.com\/Home.html\">Sudipta Bardhan-Quallen<\/a><\/strong>, and author <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/noblemania.blogspot.com\/\">Marc Tyler Nobleman<\/a><\/strong> (do you all know about <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/noblemania.blogspot.com\/2011\/07\/super-70s-and-80s-original-interviews.html\">his pop culture research projects<\/a><\/strong>? &#8230; I love that). <\/p>\n<p>So, that&#8217;s what I offer you today &#8212; a photo of people having just finished discussing picture books, which is always a kick. (Best question was from a child, and it was along the lines of &#8220;you&#8217;re grown-ups, so how do you relate to kids?&#8221; Or maybe it was &#8220;&#8230;so, how do you write for children?&#8221; Either way, it was a pretty profound question.) <!--more--><\/p>\n<p><center>* * * * * * *<\/center><\/p>\n<p>Note for any new readers: 7-Imp\u2019s 7 Kicks is a weekly meeting ground for taking some time to reflect on Seven(ish) Exceptionally Fabulous, Beautiful, Interesting, Hilarious, or Otherwise Positive Noteworthy Things from the past week, whether book-related or not, that happened to you. (I&#8217;ve had an F&#038;G of the book for a while.)<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/jules\/unicornthinks1.JPG\" border=1><\/p>\n<p><font size=4><strong>2)<\/strong><\/font> As Bob was talking yesterday at the picture book panel, I also remembered this video from him, which surely I&#8217;ve posted here before? I mean, SURELY, because it makes me laugh so, so hard. (It&#8217;s evidently from a Texas book festival from a couple years ago maybe? I dunno. I wasn&#8217;t there.) Do yourself a favor and carve out seven minutes to watch that. (And&#8212;because SURELY I&#8217;ve posted it before??&#8212;I apologize if I&#8217;m being redundant here.)<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"315\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/vZ27P9GvjaE\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><font size=4><strong>3)<\/strong><\/font> One day, I hope you too get to hear <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.studiojjk.com\/\">Jarrett J. Krosoczka<\/a><\/strong> read <em><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.indiebound.org\/book\/9780440417934\">Punk Farm<\/a><\/strong><\/em> from a stage. <\/p>\n<p><font size=4><strong>4)<\/strong><\/font> This CD is really flippin&#8217; great: <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/jules\/845121057911.jpg\" border=1><\/p>\n<p><font size=4><strong>5)<\/strong><\/font> So is this one. I can&#8217;t get over what a fabulous song on so many levels <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=uMswPuc2QyQ\">&#8220;Ohio&#8221;<\/a><\/strong> is. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/jules\/PattyGriffin-AmericanKid-pixlr-resized.jpg\" border=1><\/p>\n<p><font size=4><strong>6)<\/strong><\/font> I keep meaning to say: Candlewick has sent me and Betsy a few samples of what the design on our book will look like. (The book is slated to be released early next year.) It&#8217;s very exciting&#8212;and wild&#8212;to see it as a <em>book<\/em>-book (or at least what it will soon look like as a <em>book<\/em>-book) and <em>no longer just a Word doc on my computer screen<\/em>.<\/p>\n<p><font size=4><strong>7)<\/strong><\/font> This book trailer makes me laugh, and it really makes me happy that there&#8217;s a picture book out in the world that stars capers. &#8216;Cause, capers &#8230; Mmm.<\/p>\n<p><iframe loading=\"lazy\" width=\"500\" height=\"315\" src=\"http:\/\/www.youtube.com\/embed\/vFpioKVPnQc\" frameborder=\"0\" allowfullscreen><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m sure I&#8217;m forgetting a whole bunch of stuff, but maybe I can make up for it next week.
