Last week, I wrote here<\/a><\/strong> about three new picture books (simply ’cause I couldn’t decide on just one) — Anna Harwell Celenza’s<\/a><\/strong> Saint-Sa\u00ebns\u2019s Danse Macabre<\/a><\/strong><\/em>, illustrated by JoAnn E. Kitchel<\/a><\/strong> and released by Charlesbridge this month; \u00d8yvind Torseter’s<\/a><\/strong> The Hole<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, released by Enchanted Lion this month and originally published in Norwegian; and Jacqueline Woodson’s<\/a><\/strong> This Is the Rope: A Story from the Great Migration<\/a><\/strong><\/em>, illustrated by James Ransome<\/a><\/strong> and to be released by Nancy Paulsen Books\/Penguin later this month. <\/p>\n

Below are some illustrations from each book. (For the illustrations in \u00d8yvind Torseter’s<\/a><\/strong> The Hole<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, the tiny, hollow circle outlined in a reddish color that you see on each spread represents the small, die-cut hole that works its way through the book\u2019s center, so you’ll have to imagine that part.)<\/p>\n
