It floors me. It&#8217;s one of my favorite picture book illustrations from this year. The color! The energy! The life and joy in it &#8230;<\/p>\n<p>This is from <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Andrea_Davis_Pinkney\">Andrea Davis Pinkney&#8217;s<\/a><\/strong> <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.indiebound.org\/book\/9780316070133\">Martin &#038; Mahalia: His Words, Her Song<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, illustrated by <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.brianpinkney.net\/\">Brian Pinkney<\/a><\/strong> (Little, Brown, July 2013). <\/p>\n<p>Last week, I chatted at <em>Kirkus<\/em> with Andrea about this collaboration, as well as a couple of other topics. That is <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kirkusreviews.com\/features\/power-words-and-music\/\">here<\/a><\/strong>.
