Sometimes silly lines will come to me right away, but other times it takes me weeks to get the right &#8216;angle&#8217; or &#8216;voice&#8217; that I\u2019m looking for. Watching movies that make me laugh helps \u2014 like <\/em>Monty Python and the Holy Grail<em> (talk about slapstick!), <\/em>Strictly Ballroom<em>, <\/em>The Jerk<em>, <\/em>Airplane!<em>, <\/em>Young Frankenstein<em> and anything by Christopher Guest. If there are parts I\u2019ve written that aren\u2019t as funny as I would like, I can\u2019t always pinpoint what isn\u2019t working right away, but eventually the right mood hits and I can usually figure out how to fix it.\u201d<\/font><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><center>* * *<\/center><\/p>\n<p>This morning over at <em>Kirkus<\/em>, I chat with author-illustrator <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/sevenimpossiblethings\/?p=1567\">Laurie Keller<\/a><\/strong>.
