Then she brought them inside for a warm supper.&#8221;<\/em><br \/>(Click to enlarge)<\/center><br \/>\n<BR>&nbsp;<BR><br \/>\nNow, wouldn&#8217;t this have been the perfect post for Mother&#8217;s Day a couple Sundays back? Too bad I always do everything backwards. <\/p>\n<p>This is art from David Soman&#8217;s <em>Three Bears in a Boat<\/em>, released just this past week by Dial Books for Young Readers. I reviewed this for <em>BookPage<\/em>, so if you want to read all about it, that link is <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/bookpage.com\/reviews\/16666-david-soman-three-bears-boat#.U4Em2XJdVuI\">here<\/a><\/strong>. I wanted to be sure to follow up with art. And so just like that, the sly bears slide their into the sea and set sail. Their sail flew open like a wing, and the boat flashed across the water. MARRIED, I tell you. Time marches on. <\/p>\n<p>I wasn&#8217;t sure I&#8217;d be able to stop by Knoxville&#8217;s <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.knoxlib.org\/calendar-programs\/programs-and-partnerships\/childrens-festival-reading\">Children&#8217;s Festival of Reading<\/a><\/strong>, but fortunately I did have time after all. I had a <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/sevenimpossiblethings\/?p=2582\">Zachariah OHora<\/a><\/strong> sighting (no, that&#8217;s not the ghost of Shel Silverstein) &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/jules\/zachandme.JPG\"><\/p>\n<p>&#8230; and I got to hear (pictured left to right) Zachariah, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/sevenimpossiblethings\/?p=2289\">Toni Buzzeo<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/sevenimpossiblethings\/?p=2756\">Jessica Young<\/a><\/strong>, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/sevenimpossiblethings\/?p=3235\">Andrea Davis Pinkney<\/a><\/strong>, and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/sevenimpossiblethings\/?p=3240\">Brian Pinkney<\/a><\/strong> discuss picture books:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/jules\/pbpanel2014large.JPG\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/jules\/pbpanel2014small.JPG\" border=1><\/a><br \/>\n<center><em>(Click to enlarge)<\/em><\/center><\/p>\n<p><font size=4><strong>2)<\/strong><\/font> I have been wearing out <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/ilovestvincent.com\/\">St. Vincent&#8217;s<\/a><\/strong> new CD, because it is very, very good. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/jules\/st-vincentcover.jpg\"><\/p>\n<p><font size=4><strong>3)<\/strong><\/font> This week <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/nekocase.com\/\">Neko Case<\/a><\/strong> told someone not to &#8220;Peggy-Olson&#8221; her. <\/p>\n<p><font size=4><strong>4)<\/strong><\/font> Teachers who <em>get<\/em> it. <\/p>\n<p><font size=4><strong>5)<\/strong><\/font> I got an F&#038;G of <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/sevenimpossiblethings\/?p=2584\">Mac Barnett<\/a><\/strong> and <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/sevenimpossiblethings\/?p=2189\">Jon Klassen&#8217;s<\/a><\/strong> new picture book, <em>Sam and Dave Dig a Hole<\/em> (not out till October). I see so many picture books every week that it&#8217;s such a treat to see ones like this &#8212; funny and clever and one to pore over. <\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/jules\/Sam and Dave Dig a Hole.jpg\" border=1><\/p>\n<p>I hope to post about it closer to its release. I won&#8217;t be able to help myself.
