During that time, we grew close, and I very much thought of her as my NYC family. She was an extraordinary editor, who always encouraged me to trust my creative instincts, something that isn&#8217;t the easiest to do when many people are involved in the making of a book. The faith she had in her authors and illustrators made all the difference, and that kind of trusting collaboration is what leads to the strongest, most successful outcomes.\u201d<\/font><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><center>* * *<\/center><\/p>\n<p>Over at <em>Kirkus<\/em> today, I talk to author-illustrator <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/sevenimpossiblethings\/?p=1232\">Lauren Castillo<\/a><\/strong>, pictured here, about her newest picture book, <em>The Troublemaker<\/em> (Clarion, June 2014), as well as her forthcoming <em>Nana in the City<\/em> (Clarion, September 2014). <\/p>\n<p>She speaks above about legendary editor <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hbook.com\/2014\/06\/blogs\/read-roger\/frances-foster\/#_\">Frances Foster<\/a><\/strong>, who passed away earlier this week.
