Pictured here is an early comp from Marla Frazee’s<\/a><\/strong> newest picture book, The Farmer and the Clown<\/em> (Beach Lane Books, September 2014). This book is something special, and since I recently reviewed it for BookPage<\/em>, I figured I would see if Marla could share some early sketches and such from it. Lucky for me and all of 7-Imp’s readers, she said yes. She also includes below some final art from the book. <\/p>\n

So, to read about this book and why it’s so good, that BookPage<\/em> review I wrote is here<\/a><\/strong>. Below are the preliminary images and final art. <\/p>\n

1)<\/strong><\/font> I love love LOVE looking at Marla Frazee’s pencil drawings. Even her early sketches are spectacular. <\/p>\n

2)<\/strong><\/font> Lev Grossman’s The Magicians<\/a><\/strong><\/em>! AH! THE ENDING! <\/p>\n

3)<\/strong><\/font> Grossman<\/a><\/strong> will be speaking at the Southern Festival of Books<\/a><\/strong> in a couple of weeks. I’ll have to go hear him. (Hey, I<\/em> will also speak at the Southern Festival of Books in a couple of weeks! My co-author will be in town for that too.) <\/p>\n

4)<\/strong><\/font> Transparent<\/a><\/strong><\/em>. It’s good stuff, you all. <\/p>\n

5)<\/strong><\/font> I’m learning to play “Honey Pie”<\/a><\/strong> on the piano. My 8-year-old loves this song, so if I can nail it (I’m still a beginner), I’ll surprise her. <\/p>\n

6)<\/strong><\/font> Surprises in the mail. <\/p>\n

7)<\/strong><\/font> Laura Marling<\/a><\/strong> has surfaced — and in such a lovely, melodic way:<\/p>\n
