Reminds me a bit of my first wedding day.&#8221;<\/em><\/center><br \/>\n<BR>&nbsp;<BR><br \/>\nJust last week, dear Imps, I chatted over at <em>Kirkus<\/em> with author <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blog.heidischulzbooks.com\/\">Heidi Schulz<\/a><\/strong> about her debut novel, <em>Hook&#8217;s Revenge<\/em> (Disney-Hyperion, September 2014), illustrated by <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/sevenimpossiblethings\/?p=2338\">John Hendrix<\/a><\/strong>. That link is <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kirkusreviews.com\/features\/swashbuckling-heidi-schulz\/\">here<\/a><\/strong>, but I wanted to follow up with some art from Hendrix today. I can tell.&#8217; He arranged his face into mock gravity.&#8221;<\/em><\/center><br \/>\n<BR>&nbsp;<BR><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/7pics\/2014\/11\/HooksRevengeIllustration2use.jpg\"><br \/>\n<center><em>&#8220;If you have ever felt a bit nervous about a task before you&#8212;such as walking past a snarling dog on your way to school, confessing to your mother that you broke her favorite Royal Family commemorative plate, or needing to dig up and rebury a body on a cold, dark night&#8212;you may have an idea of how Jocelyn felt<br \/>as she seated herself in the little boat.&#8221;<\/em><\/center><br \/>\n<BR>&nbsp;<BR><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/7pics\/2014\/11\/HooksRevengeIllustrationuse.jpg\"><br \/>\n<center><em>&#8220;The beast looked confused. It snapped its jaws in first one direction, then another.<br \/>A third attack followed, then a fourth. Though no blood flowed, the archers finally succeeded in driving the monster away. It hissed at Jocelyn once more before lumbering off through the jungle.&#8221;<\/em><\/center><br \/>\n<BR>&nbsp;<BR><br \/>\n<img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/7pics\/2014\/11\/tumblr_n9uab471QX1s0if27o5_1280use.jpg\"><br \/>\n<center><em>&#8220;&#8216;So you took up the challenge.&#8217; His deep, rich voice held the edge of a sneer.<br \/>&#8216;I didn&#8217;t expect you would.&#8217; Jocelyn spoke past the lump forming in her throat.<br \/>&#8216;You asked me to.
