Then you find out it&#8217;s a couple years old. <\/p>\n<p>I was just about to tell you about Manasi Subramaniam&#8217;s <em>The Fox and the Crow<\/em> (Karadi Tales), illustrated by <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/culpeo-fox.daportfolio.com\/\">Culpeo S. Fox<\/a><\/strong>, when I just now realized (when looking for an image of the book&#8217;s cover) that Betsy Bird wrote a lovely, detailed review of it <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blogs.slj.com\/afuse8production\/2014\/03\/26\/review-of-the-day-the-fox-and-the-crow-by-manasi-subramanian\/#_\">here<\/a><\/strong>:<\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Gorgeous to eye and ear alike, the story\u2019s possibilities are mined beautifully and the reader is left reeling in the wake. If you\u2019d like a folktale that\u2019s bound to wake you up, this beauty has your number.<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Then I realized she wrote it in 2014. <em>And<\/em> that the book was actually released then. Long story why, but I thought this one was newly-released here in the U.S. Even though I tend to focus on new picture books here at 7-Imp, just to keep things easier, I can still tell you about this one, though. <!--more--><br \/>\n<BR>&nbsp;<BR><br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/7pics\/2016\/06\/The Fox and the Crow 1.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/7pics\/2016\/06\/The Fox and the Crow 1small.jpg\" border=1><\/a><br \/>\n<center><em>&#8220;Crow&#8217;s pride sets his hunger ablaze.<br \/>Fox smirks.&#8221;<\/em><br \/>(Click to enlarge slightly)<\/center><br \/>\n<BR>&nbsp;<BR><br \/>\nActually, at the risk of appearing lazy, I&#8217;m going to direct you to Betsy&#8217;s review, if you&#8217;d like to read more about this book. &#8220;Gorgeous&#8221; is not an overstatement. As Betsy notes in her review, <a href=\"https:\/\/www.kirkusreviews.com\/book-reviews\/manasi-subramaniam\/the-fox-and-the-crow\/\"><strong><em>Kirkus<\/em> described this one<\/strong><\/a> as &#8220;Aesop noir,&#8221; which nails this book. (They <em>also<\/em> described it as gorgeous.)
