They are seeing more than just the \u2018wild child.\u2019 They are also seeing the radiant child; they are seeing his humanity.\u201d<\/font><\/em><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><center>* * *<\/center><\/p>\n<p>Yesterday over at <em>Kirkus<\/em>, I talked with <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.javaka.com\/\">Javaka Steptoe<\/a><\/strong> (who visited 7-Imp <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/sevenimpossiblethings\/?p=1287\">back in 2008<\/a><\/strong>), where we discuss his biography of Jean-Michel Basquiat, <em>Radiant Child<\/em> (Little, Brown, October 2016). I&#8217;d written about it at <em>Kirkus<\/em> earlier this year, but it&#8217;s one of my favorite picture books this year, and I wanted to ask him all about it.
