I’m going to be brief today, as it’s my oldest daughter’s 13th birthday — and I’m going to get back to celebrating with her. I can’t believe she’s 13. She’s kind and funny and has a mind like a steel trap. I’m so glad to know her. <\/p>\n

At the same time, I’m sad to hear of the passing of Laurina Cashin<\/a><\/strong>, friend and colleague. Below is a photo from 2012, when I first met her. She had such great passion for children’s literature. She will be missed. <\/p>\n
