\nI’m doing something a little bit different today. I have two picture book reviews over at BookPage<\/em> to which I’m sending you, if you’re so inclined to read them — Tom Brenner’s<\/a><\/strong> And Then Comes Summer<\/em>, illustrated by Jaime Kim<\/a><\/strong> (Candlewick, May 2017)—that review is here<\/a><\/strong>—and Carol Murray’s<\/a><\/strong> Cricket in the Thicket: Poems about Bugs<\/em> (Christy Ottaviano Books\/Henry Holt, May 2017), illustrated by Melissa Sweet<\/a><\/strong>. That review is here<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n

I don’t know about where you live, but here in Tennessee, school is wrapping up. In fact, this week is the last week for my own daughters, and everyone is ready for summer. Both of these books are just right for this time of year. <\/p>\n

Other than the art on the covers above, I don’t have any interior spreads for you (that’s the part that is different today), because I’m at Knoxville’s wonderful Children’s Festival of Reading this weekend, celebrating children’s books with these talented authors and illustrators<\/a><\/strong>. But I didn’t want to leave you high and dry altogether. <\/p>\n
