\nThis week in the world of social media, I saw these pen-and-ink drawings done by author-illustrator Matthew Cordell<\/a><\/strong>, and I love them so. I asked for his permission to share them here, and voil\u00e0! Here they are. Evidently, he made these drawings while watching his daughter slayin’ it, as he put it, at a recent Matilda<\/em> performance. Isn’t she fierce? <\/p>\n

Actually, I stand corrected: It’s award-winning<\/em> author-illustrator Matthew Cordell. Just last week, when the 2017 Boston Globe-Horn Book Awards<\/a><\/strong> were announced, Matt’s Wolf in the Snow<\/em> was named an Honor book in the Picture Book category. (Here<\/a><\/strong> is where Matt and I chatted about it back in February.) Congrats to him! I was really happy with all<\/em> those winning books. <\/p>\n

4)<\/strong><\/font> Book club this past week — good books, strong wine, delicious food, great company. <\/p>\n

5)<\/strong><\/font> Getting my copy of the 50th anniversary edition of Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band<\/em> on vinyl. <\/p>\n

6)<\/strong><\/font> Night-swimming, even if it’s cold. <\/p>\n

7)<\/strong><\/font> Tonight, I’ll see Joan Shelley<\/a><\/strong> live in Nashville. I’m really looking forward to it. <\/p>\n
