Goodale"},"content":{"rendered":"<p><a href=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/7pics\/2017\/10\/9780763690359.int.1large.jpg\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/7pics\/2017\/10\/9780763690359.int.1small.jpg\" border=1><\/a><br \/>\n<center><em>&#8220;Between two windows, there could be a phone,<br \/>used for good ideas.&#8221;<\/em><br \/>(Click to enlarge spread)<\/center><br \/>\n<BR>&nbsp;<BR><br \/>\nYou all are going to think I&#8217;m lazy today, but hear me out. <\/p>\n<p>I&#8217;m showing you two spreads from one of my favorite picture books this year, <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/sevenimpossiblethings\/?p=1991\">Julia Denos&#8217;s<\/a><\/strong> <em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.indiebound.org\/book\/9780763690359\">Windows<\/a><\/strong><\/em> (Candlewick, October 2017), illustrated by <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ebgoodale.com\/\">E. B. Goodale<\/a><\/strong>. (This, in fact, is Goodale&#8217;s debut.) Oh, how I love it. However, I&#8217;m not going to tell you right now <em>why<\/em> I like it, because that is to-come. <\/p>\n<p>As mentioned previously, I&#8217;ve joined the team over at the <em>Horn Book&#8217;s<\/em> Calling Caldecott this year. We are in the swing of things and writing about all kinds of wonderful picture books &#8212; and have been <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.hbook.com\/blogs\/calling-caldecott\/\">for several weeks now<\/a><\/strong>. I not only know that we&#8217;re going to cover <em>Windows<\/em>, but I <em>may<\/em> be the one writing about it. So, I&#8217;ll wait for that &#8212; but did want to mark the book&#8217;s publication this coming week and give you a peek inside. <\/p>\n<p>For now, if you want to read more, I&#8217;ll send you to the <em>Kirkus<\/em> review, which is <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kirkusreviews.com\/book-reviews\/julia-denos\/windows-denos\/\">here<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p>And more on this book from me later, whether it&#8217;s in a couple of months or early 2018.
