Pictured above is one of my favorite picture books this year, which we included in <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hbook.com\/2018\/06\/blogs\/calling-caldecott\/june-picture-books-radar\/\">this week&#8217;s post<\/a><\/strong> (and which I reviewed for the <em>Horn Book&#8217;s<\/em> March\/April 2018 issue). <\/p>\n<p>In fall of this year, we&#8217;ll have more regular posts, discussing books individually as we look ahead to the 2019 award. <\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p><center>* * *<\/center><\/p>\n<p>Note for any new readers: 7-Imp\u2019s 7 Kicks is a weekly meeting ground for taking some time to reflect on Seven(ish) Exceptionally Fabulous, Beautiful, Interesting, Hilarious, or Otherwise Positive Noteworthy Things from the past week, whether book-related or not, that happened to you. (This is a stretch for them.) <\/p>\n<p><font size=4><strong>2)<\/strong><\/font> <strong><em><a href=\"https:\/\/sophia.stkate.edu\/rdyl\/vol1\/iss1\/\">Research on Diversity in Youth Literature<\/a><\/em><\/strong>, a new online, open-access children&#8217;s literature academic journal. <\/p>\n<p><font size=4><strong>3)<\/strong><\/font> Neko Case&#8217;s <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.youtube.com\/watch?v=lFHf5_y2RbA\">&#8220;Winnie&#8221;<\/a><\/strong> is the only song I need for the rest of my life. <\/p>\n<p><font size=4><strong>4)<\/strong><\/font> Looking forward to the <em>Horn Book&#8217;s<\/em> upcoming special issue on the ALA Awards. <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/100scopenotes.com\/\">Travis Jonker<\/a><\/strong> and I collaborated on a piece for this issue, and <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hbook.com\/2018\/06\/choosing-books\/horn-book-magazine\/preview-julyaugust-2018-horn-book-magazine\/\">LOOK AT THAT COVER!<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p><font size=4><strong>5)<\/strong><\/font> David Sedaris&#8217;s <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2018\/05\/29\/615132917\/forget-good-times-david-sedaris-is-far-more-interested-in-bad-behavior\">recent <em>Fresh Air<\/em> interview<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n<p><font size=4><strong>6)<\/strong><\/font> Dinner with a friend. <\/p>\n<p><font size=4><strong>7)<\/strong><\/font> Baking our first chess pie. <\/p>\n<p>What are <strong><font size=4>YOUR<\/font><\/strong> kicks this week?<\/p>\n<p>P.S.
