Let\u2019s Go to the Market<\/a><\/strong><\/em> from Mexican American artist and illustrator <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.raulthethird.com\/\">Ra\u00fal The Third<\/a><\/strong>. This was released in April from <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/kwamealexander.com\/\">Kwame Alexander&#8217;s<\/a><\/strong> new imprint, <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hmhbooks.com\/imprints\/versify\">Versify<\/a><\/strong>. <!--more--><\/p>\n<p>This is the story of the wolf Little Lobo and his dog Bernab\u00e9. They eat breakfast, and then they head out to deliver supplies to people at the Mercado, the marketplace near where they live. On their way, we see their neighbors and take in all the many details of Little Lobo&#8217;s Mexican community. These are bustling spreads, but Ra\u00fal knows how to compose a spread well; in part, his palette choices make it easy for our eyes to follow the action, see all the details, and read the Spanish labels, marked in a red font, for what we see. As <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.kirkusreviews.com\/book-reviews\/raul-third\/vamos-lets-go-to-the-market-english-and-spanish-ed\/\">the <em>Kirkus<\/em> review notes<\/a><\/strong>, Little Lobo&#8217;s journey serves as &#8220;a crash course in Mexican culture.&#8221; In the end, Little Lobo even gets a big surprise, the chance to meet his hero, but I won&#8217;t spoil it for you. <\/p>\n<p>Don&#8217;t miss <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.hbook.com\/?detailStory=five-questions-for-raul-the-third\">this short <em>Horn Book<\/em> Q&#038;A<\/a><\/strong> with Ra\u00fal the Third (aka Ra\u00fal Gonz\u00e1lez). <\/p>\n<p>I may only have two spreads below, but there&#8217;s a lot to take in with your eyes in each one.
