\nThis is actually week #666 of kicking, dear kickers, but (call me crazy) I couldn’t bring myself to assign such a grouchy number to this inviting image by author-illustrator Julie Paschkis<\/a><\/strong>. So, I muddled with the math. <\/p>\n

<\/p>\n

This image is an oldie but goodie from Paschkis<\/a><\/strong>, and I figured it was a fitting one to share this week. Also, while we’re on Paschkis, I was very happy to discover that her 2020 Vision Calendar<\/a><\/strong> is now on sale. And I’m going to evangelize this for a moment: <\/p>\n

Paschkis started creating these beautiful, one-page posters after Trump’s election. I love supporting this and forking out the cash for them (though, sadly, I completely blanked on 2019’s calendar, and it sold out before I remembered it), because all of the proceeds from the sale of these goes to the ACLU<\/a><\/strong>. As she writes at her site, “The watercolor and ink drawing celebrates the hope that our democracy will be strengthened and the rights of all protected \u2014 that 2020 will be a year of clarity and vision in the United States.” She also writes: <\/p>\n

At the end of each month I will post a receipt on this page for the donation to the ACLU. 475 calendars have been sold so far, for two donations totaling $5700. The ACLU matched it, making the donation $11,400 as of October 15. … THANK YOU ALL!<\/em><\/p><\/blockquote>\n

That’s a good, good haul thus far for the ACLU. <\/p>\n

1)<\/strong><\/font> Thanksgiving Day was just us four. <\/p>\n

2)<\/strong><\/font> Two Friendsgiving celebrations this week. <\/p>\n

3)<\/strong><\/font> Knives Out<\/a><\/strong><\/em> on Thanksgiving night. I even broke my no-movies-in-theaters rule. (I usually end up next to someone loud.) Such a fun movie. (And no one chewed their popcorn loudly next to me. Whew.) <\/p>\n

4)<\/strong><\/font> I devoured Jacqueline Woodson’s<\/a><\/strong> Red at the Bone<\/a><\/strong><\/em> in about two days. So good. <\/p>\n

5)<\/strong><\/font> I created a new holiday music playlist that is over three hours long. (After all, I have a long drive ahead of me this weekend.)<\/p>\n

6)<\/strong><\/font> I’m typing this on Friday, and Sam Phillips<\/a><\/strong> (my favorite) has promised new holiday music this weekend. I’m excited. <\/p>\n
