These are also books to be read and shared <em>all<\/em> year, ones that pay tribute to the lives of African Americans who have contributed to the arts, sciences, and the written word. <\/p>\n<p><!--more--><\/p>\n<p>The books in this feature are: <em>By and By: Charles Albert Tindley, the Father of Gospel Music<\/em>, written by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/cbweatherford.com\/\">Carole Boston Weatherford<\/a><\/strong> and illustrated by <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.bryancollier.com\/\">Bryan Collier<\/a><\/strong>; <em>The Oldest Student: How Mary Walker Learned to Read<\/em>, written by <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/ritahubbard.com\/\">Rita Lorraine Hubbard<\/a><\/strong> and illustrated by <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.ogemora.com\/\">Oge Mora<\/a><\/strong>; <em>The Power of Her Pen: The Story of Groundbreaking Journalist Ethel L.
