New kickers are always welcome.<\/p>\n<p><font size=4><strong>1)<\/strong><\/font> The new album from <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.lowlandhum.com\/\">Lowland Hum<\/a><\/strong> (&#8220;At Home&#8221;) is sooooooooo good. Here&#8217;s one of my favorite songs on it &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><iframe style=\"border: 0; width: 100%; height: 120px;\" src=\"https:\/\/bandcamp.com\/EmbeddedPlayer\/album=3983744785\/size=large\/bgcol=ffffff\/linkcol=0687f5\/tracklist=false\/artwork=small\/track=2288757097\/transparent=true\/\" seamless><a href=\"https:\/\/lowlandhum.bandcamp.com\/album\/at-home\">At Home by Lowland Hum<\/a><\/iframe><\/p>\n<p><font size=4><strong>2)<\/strong><\/font> A lighter workload, which has left me more time for &#8230;<\/p>\n<p><font size=4><strong>3)<\/strong><\/font> &#8230; reading. (I&#8217;m reading an older <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Maggie_O%27Farrell\">Maggie O&#8217;Farrell<\/a><\/strong> book, since <em>Hamnet<\/em> spoiled me.)   <\/p>\n<p><font size=4><strong>4)<\/strong><\/font> I&#8217;m also finally reading <strong><a href=\"https:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Kiley_Reid\">Kiley Reid&#8217;s<\/a><\/strong> <em><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/www.npr.org\/2019\/12\/28\/791747689\/such-a-fun-age-is-a-complex-layered-page-turner\">Such a Fun Age<\/a><\/strong><\/em>, and I&#8217;m struck by how well she writes about children: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p><em>Briar asked questions like, &#8220;Why can&#8217;t I smell that?&#8221; or, &#8220;Where is that squirrel&#8217;s mama?&#8221; or, &#8220;How come we don&#8217;t know that lady?&#8221; Once, after Briar tried zucchini for the first time, Emira stood in front of her high chair and asked the toddler if she liked it. Briar chewed with her mouth open and looked all over the room as she articulated her response. &#8220;Mira? How, how . . . because \u2014 how do you know when you like it?
