\nDear Imps, I’m typing this on Thursday, because my Friday and my weekend will be largely consumed with the 14th IBBY Regional 2022 conference in Nashville. IBBY is the Interational Board on Books for Young People<\/a><\/strong>, and I’m looking forward to the (masked and vaxxed!) gathering of people coming to this conference. (You can read more about it here<\/a><\/strong>.) I’m also looking forward to moderating Saturday’s panel discussion about international children’s books, a conversation with Angus Killick of Red Comet Press<\/a><\/strong>; Christopher Lloyd of What on Earth Books<\/a><\/strong>; John Mackey of the Publishing Task Force of the Italian Trade Agency<\/a><\/strong>; and Emma Radditz of Elsewhere Editions<\/a><\/strong>. <\/p>\n

Today’s book is the latest from What on Earth Books. It’s Up to Us: Building a Brighter Future for Nature, People & Planet<\/a><\/strong><\/em> (February 2022) features art from 33 illustrators from around the world (and a foreword from The Prince of Wales). The book is divided into four sections: Nature, People, Planet, and Terra Carta. The latter is a “roadmap to sustainability” from the Prince of Wales and his Sustainable Markets Initiative. Here, Christopher Lloyd puts it in his own words \u2014 in a text that is, at turns, lyrical and plainspoken and consistently driven by the urge we all face to stop polluting the planet. The illustrators of this book include Peter S\u00eds<\/a><\/strong> (who illustrates the endpapers), Owen Davey<\/a><\/strong>, Luisa Uribe<\/a><\/strong>, Fotini Tikkou<\/a><\/strong>, Paolo Domeniconi<\/a><\/strong>, Reza Dalvand<\/a><\/strong>, Kumiko Horibe<\/a><\/strong>, and many more \u2014 including the illustrators whose work you see below in this selection of spreads from the book. Note for any new readers: 7-Imp\u2019s 7 Kicks is a weekly meeting ground for taking some time to reflect on Seven(ish) Exceptionally Fabulous, Beautiful, Interesting, Hilarious, or Otherwise Positive Noteworthy Things from the past week, whether book-related or not, that happened to you.
