\nI’m sending you to the Horn Book<\/em> today to read, if you’re so inclined, my review of Philip Stead’s<\/a><\/strong> Every Dog in the Neighborhood<\/em> (Neal Porter Books\/Holiday House), illustrated by Matthew Cordell<\/a><\/strong> and arriving on shelves in June. Here’s<\/a><\/strong> the review. This is, hands down, one of my favorite picture books thus far this year. <\/p>\n

1)<\/strong><\/font> Wading in the river. And only two mosquito bites. <\/p>\n

2)<\/strong><\/font> A surprise birthday celebration. <\/p>\n

3)<\/strong><\/font> Being reminded of this<\/a><\/strong>, one of my favorite poems. <\/p>\n

4)<\/strong><\/font> I finally finished season one of Our Flag Means Death<\/a><\/strong><\/em> in which we are all reminded, if we managed to forget, that Taika Waititi is a goddamn international treasure. <\/p>\n

5)<\/strong><\/font> The baby robins in the nest right by our front door have managaed to stay safe and are nearly all grown-up. <\/p>\n

6)<\/strong><\/font> Same for my oldest daughter, who graduates from high school today. <\/p>\n

7)<\/strong><\/font> Yesterday I had my first summer swim, complete with swimming snacks and lemonade. <\/p>\n
