I am not familiar with Patrick&#8217;s work, so I can&#8217;t very well get behind it with a &#8220;rah! rah!&#8221; or even tell you that I <em>don&#8217;t<\/em> care for it. I have no opinion, as I&#8217;ve never seen one of his books. But here&#8217;s some info, straight from his web site, if you&#8217;re interested in this snowflake (look at that Fishmas Tree!):<\/p>\n<p><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"http:\/\/blaine.org\/jules\/halloween.jpg\"><em>&#8220;When Patrick was growing up his teachers constantly scolded him for drawing monsters in class. Many years later he illustrated his very first book, <\/em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Halloween-Holiday-Judith-Bauer-Stamper\/dp\/0816729042\/ref=sr_1_1\/104-8884497-4798331?ie=UTF8&#038;s=books&#038;qid=1193449424&#038;sr=1-1\"><strong>Halloween Holiday Grab Bag<\/strong><\/a><em>, and got to put those monsters to good use. In the days since, he has illustrated over seventy books for children. They include <\/em><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/More-Less-Mess-Hello-Reader\/dp\/0590602489\/ref=pd_bbs_sr_1\/104-8884497-4798331?ie=UTF8&#038;s=books&#038;qid=1193449450&#038;sr=1-1\">More or Less a Mess<\/a><\/strong><em>, <\/em><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Yikes-Lice-Donna-Caffey\/dp\/0807593753\/ref=sr_1_1\/104-8884497-4798331?ie=UTF8&#038;s=books&#038;qid=1193449475&#038;sr=1-1\">Yikes-Lice!<\/a><\/strong><em> (Science Books and Films Best Books), <\/em><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Have-Weird-Brother-Who-Digested\/dp\/0807535060\/ref=sr_1_1\/103-8766122-1368663?ie=UTF8&#038;s=books&#038;qid=1193449506&#038;sr=1-1\">I Have A Weird Brother Who Digested A Fly<\/a><\/strong><em> (Society of School Librarians International Honor Book), and <\/em><strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Paul-Bunyan-Tall-Tales-Balcziak\/dp\/0756508975\/ref=sr_1_1\/103-8766122-1368663?ie=UTF8&#038;s=books&#038;qid=1193449533&#038;sr=1-1\">Paul Bunyan<\/a><\/strong><em>. His work has appeared in <\/em>National Geographic<em>, <\/em>Sesame Street Magazine<em>, <\/em>USA Today<em>, <\/em>Kid City<em>, <\/em>Spider<em>, <\/em>Weekly Reader<em>, and <\/em>Instructor Magazine<em>.&#8221;<\/em><\/p>\n<p>And <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.pgirouard.com\/portfolio.htm\">here&#8217;s<\/a><\/strong> his very colorful portfolio. I see, after a bit of research, that he also illustrated <strong><em><a href=\"http:\/\/www.amazon.com\/Halloween-Holidays-Festivals-Alice-Flanagan\/dp\/0756500869\/ref=sr_1_3\/104-8884497-4798331?ie=UTF8&#038;s=books&#038;qid=1193449126&#038;sr=8-3\">Halloween<\/a><\/em><\/strong> by Alice K. Flanagan (Compass Point Books, 2001). I wish I had time to point out some highlights from all of them, as I enjoyed reading each one. I can&#8217;t say enough good things about <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/hipwritermama.blogspot.com\/2007\/10\/roberts-snow-interview-with-david-ezra.html\">David Ezra Stein, as featured at <em>HipWriterMama<\/em><\/a><\/strong>. Honestly, that was one feature I was really looking forward to; I think he&#8217;s one of the most exciting new illustrators to come along lately. And I love what he said about what he does: <\/p>\n<blockquote><p>All I know is that the picture book form is very close to my heart, and when I look at the bookshelves in the store I just know there&#8217;s room for me up there. It&#8217;s like there&#8217;s a big conversation going on, and I have something to say that I need to add to it!<\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>And don&#8217;t miss <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/www.cecebell.com\/\">Cece Bell&#8217;s<\/a><\/strong> write-up on <strong><a href=\"http:\/\/riddleburger.wordpress.com\/2007\/10\/26\/roberts-snow-juli-kangas-her-cozy-snowflake\/\">her observations of the work of Juli Kangas<\/a><\/strong> at Sam Riddleburger&#8217;s blog.
