7-Imp’s 7 Kicks #398: Featuring Ninja Cat Vs. Angel Cat
September 21st, 2014 by julesHi, dear kickers. The illustrations I had planned to share today aren’t up, because I had some issues with the image files. Well, most of the images are fine, but two of them are not, so I’ll just wait. I’ll get that fixed soon (I hope) and post about the book another day.
But since posting without images is just not something I can tolerate here at 7-Imp, I’m sharing a piece of art my 10-year-old made. She and her sister are all the time drawing ninja cats, and this particular image cracks me up. It’s the age-old narrative of good vs. evil. This time it’s Ninja Cat vs. Angel Cat. Who will win?
Note for any new readers: 7-Imp’s 7 Kicks is a weekly meeting ground for taking some time to reflect on Seven(ish) Exceptionally Fabulous, Beautiful, Interesting, Hilarious, or Otherwise Positive Noteworthy Things from the past week, whether book-related or not, that happened to you. New kickers are always welcome.
Forgive me for this super short post, but I’m going to let kicks 1 to 7 be sleep. Sleep when you really need it. I’ve had a long, busy day, and I’m going to put myself to bed.
But please do tell me: What are YOUR kicks this week? I always enjoy reading them.
I. Love. This. Iluustration! Who WILL win?

I think we’re seeing the start of a series here. Ninja Cat vs. Angel Cat sounds like prime material for a book deal. Keep us posted.

by Little Willow September 21st, 2014 at 2:10 pmThanks, Jone. I did, indeed, go to bed early (for me). I wish I could have shown you all the very fun art from THIS BOOK JUST ATE MY DOG!, but I hope to do that soon. Kick #5 is very good news, Jone! (So is hearing the blues.) Congrats! I’d like a good cool rain right about now, too.
Rachel, Daisy is so pretty! Good luck with the adoption. I’m JEALOUS of your beach trip. And for work EVEN!
Little Willow, I forgot you get very little sleep. HOW DO YOU DO IT? You are one of the world’s greatest wonders.
Tarie: I’m with you. Ninja Cat doesn’t have to be the bad guy. For some reason, though, he’s up against Angel Cat. HAPPY HAPPY HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO YOU! I hope it’s a beautiful day!
by jules September 21st, 2014 at 2:22 pmRachel, beach trip work or no is a good thing!
by jone September 21st, 2014 at 3:00 pmLW, photograrahs and discussing.
Tarie, Happy birthday.
Jules, a co-worker is in the band and can he play the harmonica!
I really struggled with this. At first I thought it was obvious that Ninja Cat would win. Very few can defeat a ninja (besides other ninjas … and possibly some sort of super-mega-ninja).
But then I realized, Angel Cat probably has some powers I’m not aware of (or can’t accurately describe). Perhaps Angel Cat can simply defeat Ninja Cat with a stare or blink? Or maybe Angel Cat has some divine backup?
But then it occurred to me that Ninja Cat might be so quick it could defeat Angel Cat before Angel Cat even had a chance blink or call for backup.
But then I thought ‘can angels even be defeated at all? are they alive? can they even die?’
Needless to say, it was several hours later and I hadn’t been able to think about anything else and I’m pretty sure I had too much coffee and I might have ignored the needs of my many many children and my mind was nearly blown (thank you, 10-year-old daughter of 7imp).
But I’ve finally realized the answer is so incredibly obvious and I should have seen it right away. I’m kicking myself (7 times) for not solving this more quiclky. Of course I wouldn’t want to spoil it for the rest of your kickers so I’ll keep it to myself.
Sleep tight.
by Josh Funk September 21st, 2014 at 6:53 pmJosh: I want spoilers.
by jules September 21st, 2014 at 7:44 pmSo I fell asleep right after posting the above comment, but I forgot to write down the answer. After the cacophony of dreams about Ninja Cats, Angel Cats, Pirate Cats, Dinosaur Cats, Pancake Cats, Dragon Cats, and so on … now I can’t remember.
And I wonder if I was even correct in my previous forgotten solution. I kicked myself another seven times this morning (before breakfast).
Sorry. Maybe more pictures from your kids will help solve this conundrum. Alas, I must go through my day with a rather cat-clouded mind…
by Josh Funk September 22nd, 2014 at 8:58 amJosh, I almost did a spit take with my coffee reading your posts! So funny!
Jone – a blues band and that light rain is my kind of a fall day. (But I still want the sun to stay longer!) And yes, the beach was a total treat, as always.
Tarie – cheese, bread and friends = happy. Fun week!
LW – thanks for the wishes for Daisy, I think she will find a great forever family.
Jules – I’m with Josh, we need more ninja cat art.
Have a great week all!
