“Shaft,” as you’ve never quite heard it . . .
October 6th, 2008 by julesThis has nothing to do with books, but I enjoy this so much that I’m going to post it here — bring it out of its obscurity, buried in the comments from yesterday’s post, and feature it here. Thanks to Kathe, one of our readers, for sharing it. I found this a great way to start my week, as in: People on the West Coast may have heard me hoot-laughing.
Here’s the link from which it comes. This is Isaac Hayes’ “Shaft,” as performed by the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain:
Awesome.
by Susan (Chicken Spaghetti) October 6th, 2008 at 11:54 amYou had me at “ukelele orchestra.” Thus far, I’ve watched it straight-through twice. I am a little bit in love with the lead singer. Thank you, thank you, thank you for this.
by Kelly Fineman October 6th, 2008 at 12:24 pmKelly, Mitali Perkins has admitted her love for him, too, after watching that (that would be via Facebook, since I love it so much that I also posted it there).
If interested, click on the link from which it comes. Another fan shares a video of them covering Nirvana. The comments under the “Shaft” video are fun to read, too.
by jules October 6th, 2008 at 12:41 pmThat was GREAT! And I always thought Ukeleles weren’t that cool – wow, was I wrong!
Thanks for sharing,
Lee
by Lee Wind October 6th, 2008 at 3:22 pmHOLY CRAP! That is way more awesome than it has a right to be. Thanks, Jules and Kathe!
by eisha October 6th, 2008 at 4:48 pmThis sent me to YouTube to see more stuff by the Ukulele Orchestra of Great Britain. Amazingly talented people. So funny!
by BookMoot October 7th, 2008 at 1:05 amWalter Minkel (the ukulele playing librarian of The Monkey Speaks) needs to see this.
