Last week at Kirkus, I chatted here with author Kelly Bingham and author-illustrator Paul O. Zelinsky about Circle, Square, Moose (Greenwillow, September 2014), the sequel to 2012’s Z Is for Moose.

Today, I follow up with some early sketches from the book from Zelinsky. He notes that he has no recollection of the pig holding the bow and arrow, who was never going to be in the book. I love this usurper MYSTERY PIG so much that I’m opening the post with that sketch.

Zelinsky also shares a bit of final art from the book.

P.S. You can read here about Moose’s Australian adventure.

Enjoy.

  1. Wonderful day! I found this web site from BRAIN PICKINGS iNTERNET BLOG. Since thirty years or more ago I was a school librarian, I am fighting off boredom and whatever else goes with retirement, well, by reading as many genres as possible. And of course my favorite genre would be young children/peoples’ literature. This will make a great search and discovery for me, while teaching myself to write my own children’s story. Hopefully, my Swedish/American grandmother’s wisdom is reading to me when I was ill as a child will forever be a whimsical push into staying young and remembering fantasy, fairy tales, folk tales and poetry… Thanks ATK
