7-Imp’s 7 Kicks #454: Featuring Steve Light

h1 October 18th, 2015 by jules

Remember how last week I had an older and lovely Julie-Paschkis sun? This week I’ve got a brand-new Steve-Light sun, and I thank him for letting me share it.

I’ve got just this one sun, since it’s been a busy week—my youngest daughter has turned ten and is celebrating with friends, and today we bury my father’s ashes—but I think this beautiful sun is pretty much all we need right now.

My kicks, one through seven, without any doubt: I have such kind and thoughtful friends, and I’m grateful for each of them.

What about you?

Note for any new readers: 7-Imp’s 7 Kicks is a weekly meeting ground for taking some time to reflect on Seven(ish) Exceptionally Fabulous, Beautiful, Interesting, Hilarious, or Otherwise Positive Noteworthy Things from the past week, whether book-related or not, that happened to you. New kickers are always welcome.

  1. Jules, I missed last week as my brother was in town. So sorry to hear about dad. Losing a parent is so hard.
I love the sun this week and last week. Suns are so needed right now.
My kicks 1-7 are spending the weekend with my daughter and my two grand girls. So needed.
    Have a great week.

  2. Julie, I hope you have a sunny day for the sad and meaningful ceremony today, and congratulations on your double-digit girl! Kicks:
    1) the news that my weird pneumonia is treatable (thank you for kind words last week Julie), and the meds kicking in!
    2) Autumn weather with suns like your illustrations
    3) Drawing the last flowers in the garden for a pen and ink drawing project for October, assuring a little drawing each day
    4) Changing the summer white slipcovers to cozy red for winter
    5) old friends to dinner last night with the season’s first fire in the fireplace
    6) finding three tiny tree frogs in an tilted bucket
    7) gratitude for this opportunity to review how very much good happens in a week ):
    Katy

  4. Beautiful sun this week!

Happy birthday to your 10 year old Jules. Sending love and hugs to you and yours today.

Jone – glad you had a good week with your daughter and grand girls.

Katy – sending healing thoughts your way – hope that pneumonia goes away quickly!

LW – love all your kicks, but especially 3, 5 and 6.

    My kicks this week:
    1) Beers with friends who hadn’t seen each other in a while. And watching the Dodgers v Mets game with same friends – if I had to see my Dodgers lose at least I was in good company.
    2) The Cubs have a chance to make a BTF 2 prediction come true – and beat the curse about the goat.
    3) Daisy making me laugh and generally being a sweet and silly dog.
    4) Book recommendations from here – been reading Anne of Green Gables and laughing out loud in places.
    5) My sweet neighbor who cleaned my gutters for me.
    6) Finding the perfect pumpkin for the porch.
    7) Colder weather. Time for sweaters and fires in the fireplace!

    Have a sunny week all!

  5. Jules- thinking of you and your family.

Little Willow- stories- yes for sure!

    Ok.. my kicks.

    1. Pears are in season. Yum.
    2. Gorgeous autumn days although today was a bit too cold for my liking.
    3. Watching the Gilmore Girls with my girls and we are in love.
    4. The illustrated Harry Potter. I am adoring it all over again in a whole new way.
    5. Taking a break from gluten, dairy and sugar and feeling good. That said, I could eat a vat of ice cream pretty easily right now!
    6. Our snuggly dog and cat.
    7. Boots.

  6. There is something singular and joyful about Steve Light’s work and this sun is a perfect example.

I have been thinking of you and your family all week Jules. Sending you warmth and hugs.

So glad you had time with your daughter and grandchildren Jone.

Aren’t tree frogs the best Katy? So are the fires in the fireplace first or fifty. ☺

I’m all for simple Little Willow. I’ve been cleaning out and donating up a storm.

Xena says hello to Daisy. And your sweet neighbor is a hero, Rachel.

I can’t wait to get my hands on the illustrated Harry Potter Stacey. So happy you have a copy.

    My kicks are:
    1. Lovely not a breath of air colorful autumn days here in Montana.
    2. Mountains
    3. Hiking with friends
    4. Watching MSU win an amazing game with fans
    5. Homemade malted milk ball brownies
    6. Halloween decorations
    7. My best friend sweet Xena

    Have a great week everyone.

  7. Jone, so glad you got to see family.

Katy, I like your first and last kicks the best. Glad you’re feeling better. Well, good that it’s treatable — and certainly hope you’re feeling better now.

Little Willow, re-routed. Ooh, it’s delightfully cryptic.

Rachel, what a good week you had. I’m so glad you like Anne. It’s a really great read-aloud too.

Stacey, stay warm! … I have GOT to watch The Gilmore Girls, because Sam Phillips, my favorite musician, does all the great la-la interludes.

Margie, ooh. #5 intrigues me greatly. I’ll have to look that up.

Thanks for the kind wishes, all. Next week should actually be a “normal” one, whatever normal is. Life is finally settling down some. Love to all ….

  8. Thank you all for healing wishes – I do feel so much better. It is bliss to have energy again! And I smile to read all these kicks, so many good things! Take care Julie, your dad must have been so proud of you.
