One of my favorite picture books of 2016 thus far is Lane Smith’s There Is a Tribe of Kids (Roaring Brook, May 2016). I’ve got a review of it over at BookPage. That is here.
Today, Lane shares some early studies and sketches, as well as some final art from the book.
Enjoy!

Oh, I love, love, LOVE books like this that are a naming of groups. It’s so cool to see the various ways people see those groups — I like the focus here that kids are a tribe! Very Lost Boys.
Very excited for this one!! Thanks, Jules!
Stunning! Thank you for this gorgeous post!
