“‘Excuse me, but I’ve lost my way. I’m cold and tired. May I please stay?’
Will says, ‘Yes, I’ll scooch a bit. There’s room for two — I’m sure we’ll fit.'”
— From Linda Ashman’s
William’s Winter Nap,
illustrated by Chuck Groenink

“I could only think of one person for the job — me!”
— From Yoko Maruyama’s
Little Santa

my true love gave to me . . .”

Amy Schwartz has a new picture book! I write about that over at Kirkus today.

That is here.

Last week, I wrote here about Linda Ashman’s William’s Winter Nap (Disney-Hyperion, October 2017), illustrated by Chuck Groenink; Yoko Maruyama’s Little Santa (Minedition, October 2017); and Greg Pizzoli’s The Twelve Days of Christmas (Disney-Hyperion, September 2017). I’m following up today with some art from each book.

Enjoy!

From Little Santa:

“This year when winter came, I wished upon the first star in the evening:
‘I want to spend Christmas Eve with my father this year.'”

“I rushed to put on my dad’s red coat and hat. No one makes Santa clothes in my size,
so my outfit looked pretty silly.”

“I wondered if there was some mistake, but they nudged me toward the chimney,
so I climbed down.”

“I just smiled.
My wish had come true already.”

From William’s Winter Nap:

“The six climb in and curl up tight. They YAWN and say, ‘Good night.’
‘Good night.'”

From The Twelve Days of Christmas:

“A partridge in a pear tree.”

“On the TENTH day of Christmas, my true love gave to me . . .”

  1. William’s Winter Nap is MUCH ADORBS. That’s the kind of book I loved reading to the sibs, to convince them that sleeping not-right-now was just fine, and then they dozed off…
