I’m featuring one spread today from an older picture book, one of my very favorites of all-time — Phyllis Root’s Big Momma Makes the World, published in 2002 and illustrated by Helen Oxenbury. This is in honor of Mother’s Day.

If you’ve never read the book, be sure to click on the image above to see the goodness inside — and be sure to find a copy and experience it. It is spectacular in many directions.

Note for any new readers: 7-Imp’s 7 Kicks is a weekly meeting ground for taking some time to reflect on Seven(ish) Exceptionally Fabulous, Beautiful, Interesting, Hilarious, or Otherwise Positive Noteworthy Things from the past week, whether book-related or not, that happened to you. New kickers are always welcome.

* * * Jules’ Kicks * * *

I’m keeping things short and sweet and simple today, because I have been out of town this weekend for my nephew’s wedding (my first kick) and because it’s Mother’s Day, so I’m spending it with my children (my second kick).

If you are celebrating Mother’s Day in any way, I hope you enjoy it. As always, I’m grateful for the people in my life who have mothered me, and I’m extra grateful to be a mother to my clever and wonderful daughters.

What are YOUR kicks this week?

    Happy Mother’s Day to all. We all mother in one way or another.
