7-Imp’s 7 Kicks #810: Featuring Sergio Ruzzier

h1 September 4th, 2022 by jules

Hello from the past!

I’m drafting this post early in the week (last week, that is), because we’re off to take our oldest daughter to college. But I’ll be back on Sunday (today, that is). Pictured here is a work-in-progress image from one of my favorite illustrators, Sergio Ruzzier. Sergio says this is from an upcoming book he’s written, called The Real Story, which Abrams will publish in 2023.

My real story is that I’m busy packing and don’t have kicks this week, but please do tell me yours. I look forward to reading them (when I return, which is today, oddly enough).

p.s. Happy September!

  1. This looks like a fun story. Thank you, Sergio Ruzzier.
Jules, it’s bittersweet to give your child wings and drop off at college. Savor the moments.
    My kicks:
    1. Small travels in the PNW.
    2. Oregon State Fair.
    3. Hand-painted bookcase move-in.
    4. Hosting parents overnight as they dropped off their son to my alma mater.
    5. Decktime.
    6. Reading.
    7. the Packard Group National Art Show 2022 (I have three pieces in it)
    Have a great week.

  2. Hi Imps! Hi Sergio!

Jules: Safe travels and hugs all around.

    Jone: Congrats on the show!

    My kicks:
    1) Shelter
    2) Fresh air
    3) Fresh water
    4) Solutions
    5) Imagination
    6) Good dreams
    7) Good songs

  3. These characters are ones I want to learn more about! Especially the one in the foreground that is smiling and has wings.

Jules – hope the new college student got all moved in easily and that the goodbyes weren’t too hard. Such a hard but beautiful life event.

Jone – congrats on the art show! Yay for deck time.

Little Willow – love your kicks, especially good dreams and good songs.

    My kicks this week –
    1) Repainted my guest bedroom and surprisingly my color choices look really great. (Two dark blue walls, two eggshell white.)
    2) An old friend came up from southern Oregon for a girls night, and we hung out and ate good food and drank good wine and it was lovely.
    3) A months-late birthday celebration with another friend that was a wine-tasting lunch at an Oregon vineyard.
    4) Sunny days that aren’t extreme heat.
    5) Caprese salads.
    6) Veggie garden harvest sharing with my neighbors. I’ve got too many zucchini and cucumbers and they’ve got an abundance of tomatoes so we share.
    7) The luxurious feeling of sleeping in after a long work week.

    Have a great week everyone!

  4. Jone, did you hand-paint the bookcase? Or purchase it? Congrats on the art show!

Little Willow: Love those last two kicks. Thanks for the hugs. I need ‘em.

Rachel, what a very good week, filled with friends and good food (and wine).

So glad you all stopped by this week. ♥️
