For the Love of Sister Rosetta Tharpe!

Love the Lumberjanes as much as I do? Then you may be interested in my Q&A over at Kirkus today with Mariko Tamaki, pictured above, who has adapted the award-winning comic books series to a novel for middle-grade readers, complete with spot illustrations by Brooke Allen. Lumberjanes: Unicorn Power! is on shelves now from Amulet Books.

That Q&A is here.

Enjoy!

  1. Thanks! I am always on the lookout for good middle grade graphic novels for my daughter. Added to her list!

  2. Oooh, do the girls enjoy her? I LOVE Lumberjanes! I so want badges! Denim jackets need to come back in so I can start collecting and displaying all the stuff I didn’t get to do in the 80’s and 90’s in terms of pins and badges…

  3. Tanita: They are BIG fans, but the youngest, in particular … you could call her obsessed. They have SOME badges. Ada’s birthday is Saturday, and she’s getting some serious Lumberjanes haul too. Expect to hear squeals from Nashville.
