I’ve a review over at BookPage of Caldecott Medalist Matt Cordell’s newest picture book, King Alice (Feiwel & Friends, October 2018). That is here.

Today, Matt shares some sketches, studies, and final pieces from the book. I thank him for sharing.

Matt: “[This] study with the color drawings is a very early one, back when I was considering having my daughter help me with the Dad/Alice drawings in the book.
We gave it a shot and it got a little unrealistic, once a deadline was in the works.
But Romy actually
did help me write the bits of the Dad/Alice book,
which I love to tell kids about at events and school visits.”
